Urban planning firm Prommenz, in collaboration with Hollands Kroon Architectuur, has designed an urban plan at the site of the old maritime school. The request from the municipality was to determine the number of homes, housing typologies, and target group that could be developed at this location.

The plan involves a small-scale development in the heart of Den Burg on Texel, in which the old maritime school is retained, restored, and repurposed for a social function.

Surrounding this will be semi-detached houses consisting partly of apartments and partly of (starter) homes, a mix that creates diversity.

The homes with verandas are situated on shared grounds with hedges, thus avoiding homes with fences. Parking is also located behind hedges and blends subtly into the location.
