The Village Yard

Realized by ZILT Architects

Core values: neighborliness, environmentally conscious and healthy living

Het Dorpse Erf combines a rural feel with a sense of community. Cozy and authentic in a contemporary setting. Het Dorpse Erf aims to cater to people for whom the core values of neighborliness, the environment, and healthy living are important. This aligns with the location, situated in the landscape on the edge of the village, but also with current societal trends where people are living more consciously and wish to pay more attention to each other, their surroundings, and themselves. Responsibility for the quality of the living environment is part of this, especially when it can be shared with neighbors.

Social interaction
Together, the residents of Het Dorpse Erf share the desire to keep their living environment beautiful, clean, and safe according to their own insights. This stimulates social interaction and connectedness. We believe that when people live comfortably, they are happier and mean more to themselves, their surroundings, and society.

Veranda house
The architecture supports this social interaction. All houses have multiple verandas. They are spaces that are half inside, half outside, half private, half public. Pleasant places to spend time in the shelter and intimacy of one's own home and to enjoy the view and what is happening in the yard.

Flexible concept
The flexible concept of the veranda house is rock solid! Within the rectangular footprint of the archetypal house, the wishes of the future residents are translated into a custom floor plan. Spaces for various functions and with the right dimensions are connected to create a playful and spacious layout. The residual spaces remaining at the edges of the footprint become sheltered and covered verandas. This creates pleasant spots both inside and directly around the house.
